Not positive, but I do believe that you need to enlarge the build manually.  To do so, you should get something like the wilsonhd mod and enlarge all of the body parts in the .scml file to whatever size you want.  Not sure if that helps, but feel free to tell me if it doesn't and I'll try to help more.

I thought that the SetScale function doesn't work with the player.

1: Nope.

2: It does. I've done it for one of my custom characters.
